TIER: exports hit by sluggish US demand
Latest survey shows drives for growth are likely to remain bleak
Taiwanese exporters trended downward in September owing to the sluggish US demand. The drop in demand for electronics and precision instruments has led to the decline in exports. September exports figure was USD 21.85 billion, which saw a 1.6% decline year-on-year. Import figures for September did not reflect the fall in demands for export however. The relative high commodity prices have translated to a 41.6% surge in the import of minerals (including oil) alone. ...Read more
