The main research field of Division II since its establishment is positioned to focus on Industrial Policy. In the early stage, the main research focus was on development issues and industrial policies for both manufacturing sectors and small and medium enterprises. Following dynamic change in global economic trend and Taiwan’s industry structure, the research emphasis of the division also has been expanded to development issues and policies for service sectors, evaluations of macroeconomic effects on science budget and programs, local industry development planning, trade and investment strategies for Taiwanese industries, and cross-Strait economic relations.

Through further methodology pursuit in industrial foresight and forecasting models, and practical experience gain from long-term participation in policy discussion and industrial watch, our research fellows are able to provide our clients in public sectors with prompt policy consultation and long-term policy recommendations. The significant contribution in industrial policy planning has been recognized by our clients in public sectors and the division is widely recognized as one of the prominent think-tanks in industrial policy field.
