With nuclear power off the table, Taiwan's government will need to pursue other forms of alternative energy.
But as Chen Yenhaw, division director at the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research tells I-C-R-T, the government has not run out of options, particularly since its existing options don't provide stable sources of energy.
The Central News Agency says the government has set a policy of phasing out nuclear power by 2025 and set a goal of an electricity mix of 50 percent natural gas, 30 percent coal and 20 percent renewables.
