TIER: exports hold up amidst sluggish US economy
August survey shows bleak business sentiments
Taiwanese exporters held up in August amid the sluggish US economy. Fuelled by the strong demand for electronics and basic metals, exports grew by 18.4% YoY in August, or a total of USD 25.25 billions. Import figures for August was also high with imports in minerals (including oil) and steel related products increased by 139.3% and 106.5% respectively, making August import figure the highest in record, or a total of USD 25.28 billions....Read more
