Are we having a blue Christmas concerning insipid global conditions?
TIER business composite indicators keep on plunging
Is most of the world actually having a blue Christmas this year, as the global economic conditions are turning weaker with the US as the only exception? The present global conditions provide further uncertainties to world economic outlook. In spite of the fact that the economic performance of US has preceded most countries, the majority of the world has remained frail with extremely slow growth. The US adjusts its third quarter growth from 2.4% to 2.7% on a y-o-y basis thanks to its stronger domestic demand. Quite the contrary, the European economy is still suffering from the hardships of deflationary pressure and structural unemployment with a tepid growth rate of only 0.8% y-o-y for the third quarter. Japan’s sales tax hike in April this year not only failed to fix its serious fiscal problem but also added more recondite concerns to its paltry domestic demand. ...Read more
