The main business of the Department of International
Affairs consists of the following three domains:
1) The APEC study center and Secretariats of other international
organizations (PECC, ABAC);
2) Studies on Asia-Pacific regional affairs and international political
economy; and
3) The organizing of international conferences, events, and international
cooperation.
The mission of the Department of International Affairs is diversified
with theory and practices. In addition to analyzing international
political-economic movements and issues, the Department participates
in multilateral international organizations, studies and promotes
bilateral issues, and assists the government as a think tank. The
Department also studies and promotes Taiwan’s international participation.
The Department’s recent projects include:
APEC studies and promotion,
CTPECC secretariat operations,
Maintenance of the International Living Environment Project Office,
Research on Taiwan’s internationalization strategies under glocalization,
Economic cooperation between Taiwan and Japan,
Research on economic relation between Taiwan and Korea,
Research on the normalization of cross-Strait economic relations,
Research on the effects of India’s Look East Policy and South Asian
economic integration on Taiwan’s industries,
Research on the emergence of business opportunities in the GCC,
Research on global investment strategies and its correlation with
FTA investment,
the state of play and outlook of global emerging markets,
Research on ocean related foreign affairs
And so on.
The Department of International Affairs also organized large-scale
international conferences such as the International Seminar for
APEC Market Surveillance, APEC Working Group Meeting for Intellectual
Property Experts, APEC small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
related meetings and so on.
